If you are wine lovers and want to learn more about the Ribera del Duero wine designation of origin, this is your tour! Our tour is designed for the connoisseurs of wine and also for non experts who want to enjoy good wine in a breathtaking place surrounded by history.
This private day tour starts with our private driver -guide expert in Ribera del Duero wines picking you up at your hotel. We'll take a 2-hour drive north, enjoying beautiful landscapes along the famous Duero river. This river gives life to countless vineyards in the well-known Ribera del Duero region, one of Spain's best wine areas.
During our visit, we'll explore selected wineries in the town of Peñafiel, offering a unique insight into Spain's vibrant wine market. We'll delve into both the traditional methods of intimate wineries, where time-honored practices have been maintained for centuries, and the more progressive approach that employs innovative and advanced technologies. This combination highlights Spain's significant role as a global wine producer.
Additionally, we'll have the opportunity to admire one of Spain's most beautiful and well-preserved castles from the outside. Perched on hills, it offers breathtaking views overlooking vast expanses of vineyards. We will take you also to the famous Plaza Mayor where they have the town bull events and take a peek into some of the historic churches that date back to the early centuries reflecting Mudejar art.
We find ourselves in the heart of the region, and to truly experience it, we'll visit a traditional restaurant renowned for 'lechazo,' the baby lamb roasted in a wood-fired oven. This is an optional experience that we're delighted to offer.
In this nine-hour day trip to Ribera del Duero region, you'll get a taste of authentic village life while cruising through the picturesque countryside and traditional towns of Castile, where the handmade way is the only way. Relax, and let us take care of the driving for you.

Summary of our itinerary
Please see a summary of the areas we covered during this tour. An array of plazas and streets will be included that are not listed to simplify. Please understand that this is very flexible and the guide may adapt the itinerary based on your needs or preferences. You will start with a pick up at your hotel in Madrid, 2-hours drive to Peñafiel (Madrid is 115 miles away from this town), visit 2 winwries in Peñafiel, drive up to the Castle for the views, time for lunch, (1.5hs aprox), return to Madrid and be dropped off at your hotel.
