  2. 2

    Port of Pasajes

Here we will stop to take a photo of this charming fishing port. This port is known for its scenic beauty and historical significance as a fishing and commercial port. The surroundings of the port are picturesque, with green hills surrounding it and historic buildings that bear witness to its rich maritime history.

  3. 3

    Hondarribia

Hondarribia is definitely one of the most beautiful towns in the Basque Country and a real must-see! If you only choose to visit one village in the Basque Country, this is probably the one. Hondarribia (Fuenterrabía in Spanish) is a colorful fishing village that is both rich in architecture as well as in gastronomy. It’s a feast for the eyes and also for the stomach. In recent years, Hondarribia has seen a boom in its culinary scene. This is due to many young chefs who, after studying under the likes of Martín Berasategui and Pedro Subijana, have taken their knowledge and set up shop in Hondarribia. And the quality of their new gastronomy is right up there with what one can expect to find in San Sebastian.

  4. 4

    Saint-Jean-de-Luz

Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a charming fishing village situated at the estuary of the Nivelle river, nestled in the Basque region of southwest France. Despite its proximity to the popular beach resort of Biarritz, Saint Jean de Luz offers a distinctively relaxed atmosphere. The town is bustling yet not overly crowded, boasting a blend of beauty without excessive luxury. Distinguished by its grand Basque-style houses, the old quarter of Saint-Jean-de-Luz exudes historical charm. Many of these architectural marvels date back to the 17th century, a period when the town flourished as one of France's foremost fishing ports. During the 17th century, Saint-Jean-de-Luz underwent a significant transition as its primary economic activity shifted from fishing to what could be described as piracy, with the town serving as a base for Basque corsairs.
