Born in the quaint town of Figueres in 1904, Salvador Dalí exhibited his artistic prowess early on, mounting his inaugural exhibition at the tender age of 15. While he explored various styles and techniques during his studies, it was within Surrealism that he found his niche, ultimately becoming the movement's most renowned painter. Dalí's captivating art, characterized by bizarre imagery, reflects his eccentric personality, making him one of the 20th Century's most intriguing and controversial artists. Beyond painting, Dalí showcased his talent in film, photography, and sculpture.
In Figueres, you will have time to stroll through the city, but above all, to visit the Dalí Theatre-Museum.
The Theatre-Museum Dalí, established in 1974, stands as a captivating tribute to the artist's life and work. A jewel for those seeking insight into Dalí's creative genius, the museum ranks among Spain's most visited, second only to the Prado. The building, personally designed by the artist, is worth the visit itself, but inside, it will captivate you. It's a complete immersion into the mind of the great Salvador Dalí.
Our journey doesn't end there; we'll proceed to Cadaqués, a charming fishing village that held a special place in Dalí's heart. This idyllic coastal retreat served as his summer haven and later became a significant setting for some of his most important artistic endeavors. The connection between Dalí and Cadaqués is evident in the artistic atmosphere that permeates the place, and the beauty of the coast and narrow streets still retains the charm that drew the surrealist artist and Gala to this idyllic corner.
Join us as we delve into the fascinating realms of Dalí's birthplace and creative sanctuary!
