Our private day trip offers a comprehensive exploration of smaller towns located outside Madrid, showcasing their royal significance to past monarchies and governing powers. Your driver guide will conveniently pick you up from your hotel, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.
The first destination, located just 45 minutes from Madrid, is the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial. As an option, you can visit with our guide the interior of this vast monastery, which houses a majestic basilica, a pictorial gallery featuring paintings by artists like El Greco, the area designated as the royal residence, and the place where nearly all the kings of Spain are buried.
Following El Escorial, your driver-guide will take you to Segovia. Initially, we'll pause to capture stunning photos of the city's castle, considered the best spot for this. The view from Fuencisla in Segovia is breathtaking!
We'll have free time for lunch to recharge before the guided tour of Segovia begins. If you enjoy lamb or suckling pig, Segovia is the place for you!
You'll start your visit by admiring the impressive Roman aqueduct, followed by a stroll along Calle Cervantes, taking in the vibrant Plaza Mayor where the Segovia Cathedral stands. Optionally, you can conclude your visit by exploring the interior of the Alcazar.

Summary of our itinerary

Please understand that this is very flexible and the guide may adapt the itinerary based on your needs or preferences. You will start with a pick up at your hotel in Madrid, 50 minutes drive to El Escorial (Madrid is 37 miles away from this town) , 1 hour and 15 min guided visit in the Monastery, 45 minutes drive to Segovia (El Escorial is 32 miles away from Segovia), return to Madrid and be dropped off at your hotel.

He's particularly associated with the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, which he commissioned. This grand complex served as a symbol of his power, a royal residence, a religious center, and a final resting place for Spanish monarchs.

Viewpoint of Pradera de San Marcos
The Pradera de San Marcos is located right at the foot of the Alcazar de Segovia, which rises imposingly on a promontory. It gives the impression of being a ship (more like its bow) embedded high on a rock. The best view is obtained from this meadow.

Segovia Alcazar / Fortress
The Segovia Alcazar, originally an Arab fort, was later rebuilt as a royal palace by King Alfonso VIII. It served as a residence for various monarchs and played a crucial role in Spanish history. Queen Isabella was crowned here, and it was a favored residence of the Spanish monarchs. Additionally, its distinctive shape inspired Walt Disney's Cinderella Castle.
