About this experience
Madame Tussauds Dubai is the first branch of the wax museum in the GCC, and it is built around getting close rather than standing behind a rope. Around 60 figures are arranged across themed zones - music, fashion, film, sport, media, leaders and Bollywood - and you are meant to walk in among them, pose, touch and photograph. Sixteen of the figures are Middle Eastern personalities made specifically for this location, which is what separates it from the London or New York collections, and they sit alongside global names including Shah Rukh Khan, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Chan, Kylie Jenner and Cristiano Ronaldo. Each figure takes a team of sculptors months to produce, and the detail holds up at very close range - individual hairs are punched in one at a time. Most visitors need about an hour, longer if the group is taking photographs seriously. The venue is entirely indoors and air-conditioned. Bring a phone or camera; photography throughout is not only allowed but the whole point of the visit.

Madame Tussauds Dubai is divided into different zones, which include Music Party, Fashion, Film, Leaders, Media, Bollywood, and Sport. The models at Madame Tussauds have been made using the same techniques that were used by the artist Madame Tussauds some 200 years before. Not only would you be able to see these lifelike figures, you can also touch, hug, and take pictures with your favourite models at the museum. Hence, do not forget to carry your camera with you when visiting Madame Tussauds Museum.

- The attraction is on Bluewaters Island, beside Ain Dubai, reached by footbridge from JBR or by car with paid parking on the island. Allow around an hour inside, and longer if your group intends to photograph every figure. Photography is encouraged throughout and you are meant to touch and pose with the figures - this is not a hands-off museum - but please treat them gently; they are individually made and easily damaged. Bring a phone or camera with charge and storage. The venue is fully indoors, air-conditioned, level and wheelchair accessible, with lift access. There is no age restriction and it suits families, though very young children may find some of the low lighting and lifelike figures unsettling. Tickets are delivered by email and scanned at the door. Weekday afternoons are quietest.
