A 30-minute jet ski ride on the open water off Dubai, with the city skyline across the bay. You are fitted with a life jacket and given a short safety briefing before you set off - starting and stopping, turning, and how the safety lanyard works - and an instructor is on the water with the group throughout, so no previous experience is needed. You can ride solo or take a passenger. The Gulf here is warm all year and usually calmest in the morning, which is the easiest slot for a first ride; once the instructor is satisfied you are steady on the throttle, the pace is yours. Wear swimwear and bring a change of clothes and a towel, because you will get wet. There is nowhere dry to keep a phone on the ski, so use a waterproof pouch if you want photographs of your own.
