Aquaventure at Atlantis, The Palm is the largest water park in the region, spread across the end of Palm Jumeirah with the Atlantis resort as its backdrop. The headline rides are the ones that drop you: near-vertical slides from the Tower of Neptune and the Tower of Poseidon, including a shark-filled lagoon you pass through in a clear tube, plus a set of raft rides that take groups of four. Around them the park runs gentler water: a long lazy river with rapids and wave surges, a wave pool, and two large children's play areas with scaled slides and tipping buckets. Entry also gives access to a private beach on the Gulf, which is where most people end the afternoon. Allow at least four hours; a full day is comfortable. Bring swimwear, a towel and strong sunscreen - lockers, changing rooms, towels and food outlets are on site. Height and age limits apply on the tower slides and are posted at each queue.
