Louvre Abu Dhabi tickets: what you pay, who gets in free, and when to go

9 min read

Louvre Abu Dhabi's own ticket channel sells adult admission at AED 70, reduced-price admission at AED 35, and free admission for under-18s and several other groups. Galleries open at 10:00 and close at 18:30 from Monday to Thursday and 20:30 from Friday to Sunday, and the dome stays open until midnight. This guide sets out the fares, who qualifies for the cheaper and free tickets, the hours, how to get there, and how our tickets compare, including a combo with Qasr Al Watan.

What you pay, and who pays less

Louvre Abu Dhabi's visit page lists one price, AED 70 for adults aged 18 and over, VAT included, and a list of groups that enter free. Its ticket channel names five ticket types: Admission - Adult, Admission - Reduced Price, Admission - Complimentary Under 18, Admission - Complimentary Others, and Admission - Homat Al Watan + 5 Reduced Price.

The reduced fare, AED 35, is not on the visit page. The channel lists it under its ticket types for workshop ticket holders, UAE teachers, UAE military and Homat Al Watan. The complimentary groups are under-18s, resident senior citizens aged 60 and over, people of determination and one companion, ICOM/ICOMOS members and journalists. Members also enter free, and the visit page adds one guest.

Reduced and free admissions are valid only when the required membership or ID card is shown at the museum, so bring it. We looked for any other concession on the museum's pages and found none.

Our single ticket is the adult one, with one category. Book it only for the adults in your party: our listing says the museum issues the free under-18 admission at the ticket desk on arrival, and that photo ID showing the child's age may be requested. Our price and cancellation terms are on the card above.

Hours, and how long to stay

The museum says it is open from 10:00 to midnight. Galleries and exhibitions close at 18:30 from Monday to Thursday and at 20:30 from Friday to Sunday, with last entry 30 minutes before. The dome stays open until midnight, last entry 23:00. Its visit page lists those hours for Monday, and its ticket channel offered Monday 9 November 2026 as an available date. It notes that some galleries may be closed while new artworks are installed.

Monday needs care, because the museum's own pages disagree. The visit page and the ticket channel list Monday as open and sell Monday dates. But the museum's unified-ticket terms say Louvre Abu Dhabi is closed on Monday and that entry is valid only from Tuesday to Sunday; those terms are written for its Museums Pass. One of our listings, the combo, also says the museum closes one day a week. We cannot settle it from the pages, so check the date you intend to book before you plan around a Monday.

The museum says you may stay as long as you like during opening hours. Our listing suggests two to three hours for the galleries, or about an hour if you are there mainly for the dome and the architecture.

Rules, refunds and what to bring

Admission tickets are valid only for entry on the selected date. Children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult at all times. The museum's channel says ticket purchases are final and cannot be refunded or amended; our own cancellation terms are on our cards.

Our listing says large bags and backpacks must go in the cloakroom, that security at the entrance is like an airport's, that photography without flash is permitted in most galleries but tripods and selfie sticks are not, and that the galleries are kept cool, so bring a light layer. The museum lists cloakrooms among its facilities and publishes visitor regulations, which we did not read.

Getting there, and what is on site

The museum is on Saadiyat Island. From Dubai on the E11, take the Saadiyat Island / Yas Island exit onto Sheikh Khalifa Highway E12 and follow the signs to the Cultural District. Its page also lists Abu Dhabi city bus 94, the Experience Abu Dhabi shuttle bus, a taxi drop-off and pick-up point in front of the main entrance, and a water taxi from Marsa Mina at Abu Dhabi Port's Cruise Terminal. Our listing puts the drive from Dubai at around 90 minutes.

The museum's page also lists the Cultural Express, a free round trip from Dubai, and says it serves two stops only: Louvre Abu Dhabi and Qasr Al Watan. The operator's own timetable says otherwise. It lists nine stops, one marked currently closed, including City Seasons Tower Hotel Dubai, Zayed National Museum, Louvre Abu Dhabi and Mamsha Beach, and Qasr Al Watan is not among them. From Monday to Thursday the bus leaves City Seasons Tower Hotel Dubai at 09:05, reaches the Louvre at 11:48, and leaves the Louvre for Dubai at 18:45. The weekend timetable adds a run leaving Dubai at 11:05, reaching the Louvre at 13:48, with a return leaving the Louvre at 20:45. We promise neither page: check the timetable before you plan around it, and do not count on this shuttle to reach the palace.

The museum lists paid valet parking, free Wi-fi throughout, cloakrooms, and wheelchairs and strollers on free loan from the Loan Desk.

Adding Qasr Al Watan

Qasr Al Watan's own calendar shows the palace open from 10:00 to 17:00 on each day from 4 to 30 November 2026, against the museum's 18:30 or 20:30 close, and its booking page prices an adult at AED 65 and a junior at AED 30. Plan the palace first and the museum after it.

Our combo ticket covers admission to both on one booking. Its listing says transport between them is not included unless your booking says so, that they are roughly 20 minutes apart by road, and to allow around two hours at each. The child rate covers the palace only, because under-18s enter the museum free.

Neither venue's ticket page offers the pairing as one ticket; bought separately, an adult pays AED 65 and AED 70. Our cards show our prices live: add up our single Louvre ticket and our single palace ticket, and set the sum beside the combo.

Our Qasr Al Watan guide has the palace's hours, rules and fares in full.

The Museums Passes

The museum's page lists three Museums Passes, valid from 1 March 2026, and its Buy Now links open each pass's own page. Louvre Abu Dhabi with the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi is AED 120 for an adult and AED 0 for under-18s. With Zayed National Museum it is AED 120 for an adult and AED 0 for under-18s. With both it is AED 170 for an adult and AED 0 for under-18s.

The museum's unified-ticket terms say a Museums Pass is non-refundable and cannot be amended, is valid for 30 days, and that visit dates may be modified for all museums, subject to applicable policies. We do not sell the passes.

Louvre Museum Entrance Ticket

Louvre Abu Dhabi is the first universal museum in the Arab world, built on Saadiyat Island under a 180-metre steel dome that Jean Nouvel perforated with almost 8,000 stars so the sunlight falls through it in what he called a rain of light. The building sits in the sea, water running between its galleries, and the walk beneath the dome is worth the visit on its own. Inside, the collection is arranged by period rather than by nation - so a Buddha, a Torah, a Quran and a Gothic Madonna can share a room, and the point being made is how much the world's civilisations were doing at the same moment. The permanent galleries are supported by loans from thirteen French museums, the Louvre in Paris among them, and by touring exhibitions that change through the year. Allow two to three hours to do it properly; less if you are mainly there for the architecture. There is a cafe and a museum shop on site, and the galleries are air-conditioned throughout.

Qasr Al Watan with Louvre Museum Combo Tickets

Two of Abu Dhabi's landmark buildings on one ticket, and they make a deliberate pair: one is the country explaining itself, the other is the country collecting the world. Qasr Al Watan is a working presidential palace opened to the public in 2019 - the Great Hall sits beneath a 37-metre dome, and the House of Knowledge holds manuscripts tracing Arab contributions to astronomy, mathematics and medicine. Louvre Abu Dhabi, on Saadiyat Island, is Jean Nouvel's museum under a 180-metre latticed dome that filters the sunlight into what he called a rain of light; its galleries are arranged by era rather than by nation, so works from different civilisations sit side by side, including loans from the Louvre in Paris. Allow around two hours for each and expect roughly a 20-minute drive between them. Both are fully air-conditioned. Dress is smart casual at the palace - shoulders and knees covered. Children under 18 enter Louvre Abu Dhabi free, so the child rate here covers palace admission only.
