In Shaqra Governorate, the Qasab Salt Flats are the largest salt flats in Najd and one of the largest in Saudi Arabia. They are Saudi Arabia's primary source of salt and have become a popular tourist destination for learning about natural salt extraction. Since the pre-Islamic era, Al-Qasab has been famous for its salt and wheat production; it is located 160 km away from Riyadh and is also famous for its poets.
