A full day at Yas Waterworld, the Abu Dhabi water park built around the story of Emirati pearl diving - the theming carries through the ride names, the architecture and the soundtrack rather than stopping at the entrance. More than 40 attractions are spread across the site, from Dawwama's hydro-magnetic tornado slide and a set of steep drop rides to one of the world's largest sheet waves for flowboarding. Alongside them sit the gentler things a mixed group needs: a wave pool, a long lazy river, and large shallow play zones with tipping buckets for younger children. A pearl-diving experience, water-cinema screenings and seasonal events run through the calendar. Plan on four hours minimum and take a full day if you can. Bring swimwear, a towel and high-factor sunscreen; lockers, changing rooms and food outlets are on site. The operator states that Fridays are ladies-only, so check the day of the week before you book.
