This will be explained to you from the Mirador del Valle, a perfect location to observe Toledo perched atop its rock, more than 600 meters above sea level, surrounded and protected on 3 of its 4 sides by the Tagus River. It's easy to understand from here why the great painter El Greco fell in love with Toledo.
After these breathtaking views, we'll return to the center and start our guided walking tour, where we'll discover why Toledo is called the city of the three cultures. We'll stroll through the outskirts where the ancient Muslim quarter was located, visit the Primate Cathedral of Spain, Toledo's not the largest but the most important one. Finally, we'll delve into the old Jewish quarter of the city where we can visit one of its ancient synagogues and a beautiful monastery, a great legacy to the history of the Catholic Monarchs. They brought unity to the kingdoms of Spain but also marked the end of the coexistence of these three cultures.
Toledo, besides its history, boasts craftsmanship and gastronomy. Your guide will also orient you in these aspects. You'll discover artisans practicing damascening (Damasquinado of Toledo is the intricate art of inlaying gold or silver threads into steel, creating detailed designs) and if you wish, you can taste the city's typical sweets, marzipans.
