Your adventure begins with an afternoon pickup from your hotel in Salalah, traveling via Thumrait—once a historic Bedouin settlement—before crossing the vast gravel plains of Al Nejd. Upon reaching Al Khadaf, witness towering golden dunes and enjoy an adrenaline-filled dune bashing experience with an expert 4x4 driver. As the sun sets over the Empty Quarter, arrive at a desert camp where you’ll be welcomed with traditional Omani coffee and dates, followed by a delicious Arabic dinner and shisha under the stars.
The next morning, after breakfast at the camp, continue to the legendary Lost City of Ubar (UNESCO World Heritage Site), often called the “Atlantis of the Sands,” before visiting Wadi Dawka, the Frankincense Wadi (also UNESCO-listed), home to the largest natural collection of frankincense trees. Learn about the ancient and modern importance of frankincense before returning to Salalah, completing one of the most enriching desert tours in Oman.
