If there is something Spain has become famous for, it’s the culinary scene that is not only a great way to try a variety of typical and local specialties, it can be a very social activity as well. It gives you the experience of immersing yourself with the locals and enjoying a delicious meal that can be fun and full of choice.
During this 3-hour culinary adventure, we will delve into the captivating history of gastronomy in Spain. Our Madrid Markets & Tapas Tour will lead you through the historic streets of Madrid in search of the most authentic and local tapas, ranging from centuries-old taverns to modern cafes showcasing the latest trends in Spanish cuisine. By the end of the tour, travelers will gain insight into regional cuisines, their origins, local favorites, and tips on navigating the tapas scene across Spain.
Additionally, we'll have the opportunity to visit some of Madrid's renowned markets. These markets have been an integral part of Madrid's life since ancient times. Originally located in street stalls, the City Council later constructed indoor markets due to the city's growing population.
Today, many of these historic markets have been renovated, preserving their function as places to purchase fresh food while also evolving into social hubs for both locals and tourists. Inside these markets, small slow-food restaurants offer a variety of high-quality urban cuisine.
This tour operates on a pay-as-you-go basis for the tapas. We will introduce you to various dishes, and if you're interested in trying them, you can purchase them with our assistance. It's a family-friendly tour, and we're very accommodating to both adventurous eaters and those with more selective tastes, especially younger ones. We can also tailor the tour to accommodate vegetarians and those on a gluten-free diet.
