Situated midway between the capital Madrid and Valencia, Cuenca stands as a treasure trove worth exploring. Firstly, it boasts UNESCO World Heritage status. Its roots trace back to the Muslim rule over the Iberian Peninsula, known as Qunka. In 1177, Christian King Alfonso VIII seized the city, establishing it as a prominent capital within the Castilla La Mancha region.
Your driver - guide will conveniently pick you up from your hotel, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience, and before arriving in Cuenca, he will stop at one of the symbols of Castilla-La Mancha, the windmills in Mota del Cuervo, so you can take a brief stroll and see why this place is called the balcony of La Mancha.
Once in the city, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time. Cuenca will leave you speechless. Our guide during the walking tour will intricately narrate the city's history and reveal its most magical spots, such as the cathedral, its main square, its colorful facades, and the famous hanging houses.Afterwards, you'll have free time for lunch. Our guide will also provide fantastic recommendations on where to taste authentic La Mancha cuisine in the city, or if you prefer something quicker, he'll suggest the best tapas bars in the area.
The second part of our day trip will focus on nature, specifically on the enchanted nature. The Enchanted City of Cuenca is a nature's masterpiece, with these crazy cool limestone formations that totally mesmerize with their shapes and beauty. For about 2 hours, you'll have the chance to discover all the shapes hidden in this place. Will you be able to find Gollum's face or the Gate of Mordor hidden among these rocks?
